Bit late to the party this week for which I apologise, but here we go with two classes which (again) I have more than a vested interest in. Okay, enough of the chit chat, LET’S GET TO IT.
I love Hunters. I’ve played once since this all began, and I’m not going to sit here and try and make this as if I don’t have a honking huge bias. An awful lot has changed since those early days however and I can quite robustly argue that the current Hunter fantasy is a world away from what passed for the same back in Vanilla. However, as I have to keep reminding myself almost on a daily basis, this is no longer the same game to begin with. Once that fact is grasped, you can be a bit more objective about what does now pass for Huntering in Legion.
The three specs are all lovely and distinct. You have tons of cool pets to choose from but there’s a finite limit to just about everything else, including tolerance for specs that change approximately every 77 days or so. For me, at least, these things have become pretty much incidental. My Hunter ‘fantasy’ is that I can just play when I want, for as long as I want, and not die. That happens now with a combination of experience and a not totally woeful iLevel. After that, everything else is largely incidental.
I played a Shaman Healer through both Wrath and Cataclysm. These times I don’t talk about much, but were hugely enjoyable. The levelling experience is one of the most immersive and satisfying I’ve experienced. My Draenei Shammy is however, like all of my other alts, now condemned to a life behind my career and, for now, remains stuck at 100. However, if I get the chance, I’d love to play as a Healer again.
I sadly cannot comment on any of the current ‘Fantasy’ but I suspect I’ll enjoy it more than the Hunter variety. The Class Hall is way cooler, for starters, and honestly it makes me sad that you allow the Maelstrom to be perfectly acceptable as a base of operations for the elemental wielders but Hunters don’t get the Farstrider Lodge… and I’ll stop now. You’ll give me better reasons for picking your favourites anyway. That’s how this works.
Now’s your chance to decide which is the better class and why, plus add your voice to the discussion which we’ll break down in a post at the weekend.
